Difference Between Wild Rift and LoL PC

League of Legends: Wild Rift definitely takes after its PC version to make original players transition easily to the new game. Aside from the modified controls system, there are several major differences that players need to be aware of after playing Wild Rift beta. These differences are made so that games won’t take as long as they are in the mobile version, only limiting game time to an average of 10-25 minutes.

1. Gold & CS

Gold in Wild Rift has been increased significantly, making it easier to buy items since you’ll get almost twice the gold that you’d get from the PC version per minion. You also gain gold from a nearby minion regardless if you last hit or not, but the value is halved if you were not the one to kill it. CS numbers are not displayed but total gold earned per champion can be seen on the TAB. This will set apart veteran players from those that haven’t played the game before.

2. Items & Builds

Items in the game have been completely revamped. Starter items such as the Doran’s Set and Hunter’s Set as well as potions and elixirs are all removed. Instead, players will buy Basic Items right off the bat and will rely on alternative healing methods such as honeyfruits. Only a few items have been added to the game which make item building quite linear depending on the champion role you are playing.

The biggest difference in the item change is the revamp on Boots and Activated items. Most activated items have been removed, instead, they become a tertiary upgrade to your boots. Items such as Protobelt, Locket of the Iron Solari, Zhonya’s Hourglass, and Gargoyle’s Stoneplate are upgrades from boots and can be activated by using the Boots button on your screen. This limits the player into having only one activated item per game.

3. Summoner Skills

Summoner Skills in the League of Legends: Wild Rift beta have been limited and had their cooldowns reduced significantly. Teleport and Cleanse are no longer available as Summoner Spells and have instead become tertiary upgrades for boots with the Teleport costing 1000g and Quicksilver Sash replacing Cleanse. With Summoner Spells having extremely low cooldowns, players can opt to use skills such as Heal casually.

4. Champions Skills and Leveling Up

On the League of Legends: Wild Rift beta, champions can get their ultimate ability at Level 5. Experience has definitely been increased making it easy to reach the max level of 15 even before the 20-minute mark. There are also a lot of champion skills that have been changed such as Ashe’s Enchanted Crystal Arrow which can now be controlled manually. With such a small screen, range can feel a little off since it’s been updated.

5. Runes & Keystones

Runes and Keystones have had a complete revamp. You know longer have to choose between Runepaths since the game allows you to mix and match but only up to a maximum of 4 including your Keystone. There are a lot of new runes in the game since most of the old runes can be a little overpowered in the current state of the game. The existing runes have also received a bit of a tweaking as to power them down for the mobile experience.

6. The Jungle & Map

It’s no surprise that the Jungle has a had a bit of toning down to make easier to jungle. Most of the time, players can survive without needing a leash from an ally. Monster camps are still where they’re supposed to be but the amount of monsters in a camp have been reduced to make it faster to clear. The map will also always display as the Blue Side. If you were chosen on the Red Side, the map will flip into Mirrored Mode which switches the Top Lane and Bot Lane. This can get a bit confusing at first.

7. Ranked System

The Ranked System is completely different from what it is on the PC version. To qualify for the promotional series, you’ll need to win a certain number of games. In essence, 1 win is equal to +1 LP and 1 loss is equal to -1 LP. Promotional series are still essentially the same, except when getting promoted within the same division where you’ll only need to win 1 game. This might seem like it’s an easier system but with Wins and Losses having the same weight, a losing streak or winning streak can take you really far away.

Thoughts on Wild Rift

As a player who tried out the Wild Rift beta, the game seems to fit the expectations set upon the game. It still holds the soul of what League of Legends tries to be while being able to create a bit of a refreshing way to play the game. Wild Rift definitely lives up to the hype which allows players to get into a competitive League of Legends match without the same restrictions as to its PC counterpart. Excited to see how this mobile game will affect players around the world.

Will Wild Rift get an Esports?

It’s not unusual for Mobile Games to have competitive Esports Series. Games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Arena of Valor each have their own Esports series. With Riot Games being the developer behind the world’s biggest Esports series in League of Legends, there’s no doubt the Wild Rift will also have its own Esports in the future.
