LEC 2021 Playoffs: What In The World Is Happening?

League of Legends isn’t just known for its MOBA game. For most fans, the reason why they love the brand so much is because of the different things associated with the game such as esports scene, community, Runeterra Lore, and even Music. Let’s take a look at some of the LoL Worlds Songs that have captured the hearts of music lovers around the world. Here are all the Worlds Songs, Warsongs, and Features Songs released during international tournaments ranked from best to worst.

Animated Faker looking down upon us - LoL Worlds song
Which do you consider is the best LoL Worlds Song?

11 Best LoL Worlds Songs

On this list, we won’t just be ranking the Worlds Theme Songs themselves but also the associated LoL worlds songs that were released during the international stage which includes featured music videos and MSI themes. We’ll have a listen to the music and take a look at their respective MVs in order to place them at a ranking that justifies how good they are. People on the internet always say that Riot’s music production is better than its game development. Let’s take a look at how accurate that is!

10. Ignite

Ignite is one of the few Worlds LoL songs that use techno elements primarily for its main track. The song doesn’t try to add depth to the lyrics and instead focuses on the techno elements of the music which was very popular during the era it was released. However, outside of 2016, it makes a person wonder how a song like that became a LoL Worlds song since it doesn’t make you feel a deeper connection towards the LoL Esports scene or Runeterra Universe itself.

  • Title: Ignite
  • Artists: Zedd
  • Tournament Release: Worlds 2016 Main Theme
  • Champions: SK Telecom T1 (LCK)

The music video uses creative simple animation that is really engaging and makes use of both Esports and Runeterra elements to make viewers interested in playing the game. It might feel trippy but that’s the main charm on watching the video. It just feels like the music and video don’t really mix well together in order to create the hype for worlds as it was supposed to.

9. Worlds Collide

Worlds Collide is a great song that really builds up suspense and makes people sing-along to the march towards Worlds. It does a great job in bringing the “battle song” element that every LoL Worlds song should have when being played. The rise and fall of the song’s volume and voice literally give every listener chills as they listen to it. In terms of musicality, the song is definitely one that should rank higher because of how it encapsulates how LoL Worlds songs should be.

  • Title: Worlds Collide
  • Artists: Nicki Taylor
  • Tournament Release: Worlds 2015 Worlds Theme
  • Champions: SK Telecom T1 (LCK)

In terms of it’s music video, Worlds Collide will have a rating of -100. The Worlds Collide MV is just a Gemstone spinning for 3 minutes. That’s right, this is the only Worlds Theme Song that didn’t have an MV which doesn’t make sense considering that its predecessor, Warriors, had an MV despite being released in 2014. Even if there were financial difficulties in that year, the Worlds Song should not be compromised since it will be one of the main attractions for the viewers.

8. Phoenix

Phoenix had a weird transition from the previous LoL Worlds songs but with so much expectation from the two best Worlds Themes on this list, there wasn’t really much Phoenix could do. As a song, it didn’t have the punch that most of the other songs. This song was average at best in terms of its musicality and MV. The fact that the song would coincidentally be the same name as the World Champions of that year was the only interesting factor.

  • Title: Phoenix
  • Artists: Cailing Russo & Chrissy Costaza
  • Tournament Release: Worlds 2019 Worlds Theme
  • Champions: Funplus Phoenix

There wasn’t anything bad about Phoenix but there wasn’t anything outstanding about it either. It was your standard LoL Worlds Theme that had all the elements structurally and accurately placed in away that would be described as “textbook”. Unlike the previous songs on this list, this song has a consistent place in our hearts as the Worlds Song that was a really good listen but would never really remember the title. Aside from the fact that Caps was on this video.

7. Take Over

Take Over is a nice song overall that really brings on the hype but feels like a mashup of the previous most successful songs like Rise. The song doesn’t have its own sense of identity as the other songs do which makes it fall lower on the list. Regardless of the song’s structure, it does give a great Worlds Hype that would draw hundreds of thousands of viewers across the globe. It’s a real head-banger that would play really well in-between hyped matches.

  • Title: Take Over
  • Artists: MAX, John McKinnon, and Henry
  • Tournament Release: Worlds 2020 Worlds Theme
  • Champions: Damwon Gaming

The Music Video makes people wonder how much Riot Games is milking the fact that Faker is the Greatest Player of All-Time. The song also helps people revisit the greatest players in each year that won the Worlds Championships using references that only those who have watched for so long can really get. Needless to say, the nostalgia factor of the song really tickles our fancy. However, we just wish that it wasn’t always Faker, Faker, Faker. Especially since he didn’t even manage to compete at Worlds that year.

6. GIANTS

GIANTS is the first non-Worlds Theme song on this list but manages to find a place in our top 10 list. This song is part of the growing trend of combining English and other languages in a song to create a sense of diversity. GIANTS does a great job in doing that and manages to create a seamless transition from one part to another even though the shift in both language and tone are from literally very different worlds.

  • Title: GIANTS
  • Artists: Becky G, Keke Palmer, SOYEON, Duckwrth, and Thutmose
  • Tournament Release: Worlds 2019 Featured Song
  • Champions: Damwon Gaming

The music video in Giants is absolutely breathtaking and really draws you in. Not to mention that the live-performance featuring this song and the artists are absolutely above the level that even physical Sports Opening Ceremonies can only dream of achieving. The music video in itself even captures the essence that each of the artist’s person by matching them with the right champion for the job.

5. Warriors

Warrior is a song that makes you feel like you’re a footsoldier marching into a war. The song connects to its audience’s fantasies by transporting them into a scenario that every RPG player has thought about at least once in their lives. The transition from solemn quietness into something more forceful definitely captures the moments at which esports fans want to hear when the teams are walking towards their matches, fighting for the trophy.

  • Title: Warriors
  • Artists: Imagine Dragons
  • Tournament Release: Worlds 2014 Worlds Song
  • Champions: Samsung White

This song and MV was the very first that came out for an International Tournament in League of Legends history. The first time anyone watched the video during Worlds 2014, it lit a spark that ignited everybody’s desire to become a professional player that would compete on the international level. This video was very simple but had everything that a simple gamer needed to know about the arduous task of joining the teams that would later become the stars of the League of Legends Esports Scene.

4. POP/STARS

POP/STARS is the only song on this list that doesn’t use English mainly for the lyrics but the song is so nice that it doesn’t matter anyway. For the English audience, POP/STARS was an absolute jam. Everybody could vibe to it and even sing a few lyrics just because of how catchy the song was to the international audience. People who never had any interest in K-Pop before definitely had their eyes open after watching this awesome song for the first time.

  • Title: POP/STARS
  • Artists: (G)I-DLE, Madison Beer, Jaira Burns
  • Tournament Release: Worlds 2018 Featured Song
  • Champions: Invictus Gaming

The POP/STARS MV is often described as the peak of animation in music videos that allowed the incorporation of dance and music to be properly portrayed in a music video without it look clunky. The MV is definitely at the top of the list not only in LoL Worlds Songs but in the general category of animated music videos around the world. It probably even awakened a lot of people’s “interest” in 2D girls on their screens because of how well they were portrayed.

3. Bring Home The Glory

Bring Home the Glory is the most underrated Esports Theme Song ever. It’s a warsong through and through and speaks towards having the heart of a challenger. The instrumentals give you goosebumps and the singing style is simply out of this world. It also speaks about the spirit of Esports as teams fight not only for their personal glory but also for the sake of bringing home the honor of being the Winning Region for their country and the fans.

  • Title: Bring Home The Glory
  • Artists: Sara Skinner
  • Tournament Release: Mid-Season Invitationals 2018
  • Champions: Royal Never Give Up

Like Worlds Collide unfortunately, Bring Home The Glory didn’t have an MV. It was simply a flag waving on the screen. Since it wasn’t a big a tournament as Worlds, there is a level of forgiveness that we can give Riot Games for this one and the fact the following MSI didn’t have a LoL Worlds Song. The song in itself qualifies it on the top 3 as undeniably one of the greatest Esports Songs even to grace the League of Legends scene.

2. Rise

Rise is an absolute head-banger of a song. The song in itself is absolutely original and provides people a real feel of the esports season as the race for the championship trophy begins. The lyrics speak about the goal that every contender has and the struggles that a defending champion has when they have to defend their spot. Rise was an instant favorite among the fans and for the solid reason the song was everything fans had expected it to be and more.

  • Title: Rise
  • Artists: The Glitch Mob, MAKO, and The World Alive
  • Tournament Release: Worlds 2018 Theme
  • Champions: Invictus Gaming

The music video was the very first one that featured the defending champion as the protagonist of the MV. It was a creative retelling of the struggles that last year’s champion had to face to climb to the top. Fans were so excited to be watching players from their home region being featured in an MV with their likeness being used as characters. It also had an foretelling that featured Uzi since he was favored to win during The Year of the LPL.

1. Legends Never Die

Legends Never Die is beloved by every League of Legends fan in the world and will put this song at least in their Top 2 spot of LoL Worlds Song lists. The song speaks to everyone and makes it difficult not to sing-along. It’s simply difficult to put into words how great the song is in itself but after taking a few moments to listen to it, you’ll instantly get hooked. The phrase “Legends Never Die” became something that every gamer uses until today.

  • Title: Legends Never Die
  • Artists: Against The Current
  • Tournament Release: Worlds 2017 Theme
  • Champions: Samsung Galaxy

The Music Video also stands out in a sense that it really brings the world of Runeterra to life. There are many sources where people can read about the happenings in their favorite fantasy world but there were very few that put it into song back then. Seeing the struggles of all the champions we use in Summoner’s Rift humanizes them a bit and helps people aspire to be something more than what they are. And that’s really awesome.
